How Intimate Are You with Him? September 29, 2010

Mocha Motivations with Coach LeslieRecently I have made a commitment to spend even more time in personal Bible Study.  Arising every morning at 6:00 AM to offer God the “first fruits” of my day.  I must admit there are days when I simply don’t ‘feel’ like it.  I even find myself thinking of reasons why I should skip this morning.  In those moments I  remind myself that spending time with God should be a joy not a chore.  I tell myself, “Leslie you are not to live by how you feel, you are to live by the Word of God” and get myself right on up. I mean who wants someone to spend time, they know doesn’t really want to?

I had to shift my thinking because my greatest desire in life is to really have an intimate relationship with God.  I mean I am sooo hungry for it until nothing else really matters.  I want to become more like Christ everyday and empower others along the way to do the same but in order to do that, I MUST study.  I had to transition from simply reading the Bible for the sake of reading to studying the Word of God.

I had to change my whole thinking of seeing that book as the Bible to seeing that book as the Word of God, the very breath and voice of God waiting to speak to me. When you study the Bible you are meditating on the Word, you are praying for divine revelation through the Holy Spirit so that you can and here is the big one…are you ready….apply what you have studied to your own life.  See real Bible Study is not about impressing others with your knowledge.  No…no…no….real Bible Study is about an internal transformation through application and that my sister is what people will see and be drawn to.  That is how you SHOW God just how much He means to you.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Who holds the intimacy of your heart in their hands?

SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:15 AMP

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

ACTION STEP:

Make a commitment to spend a few minutes with God at least once a week.  Right now I am studying the books of Acts, you are welcome to join me.
